An Absolute Must for any Serious Photographer

18 Percent Grey Pop-up Card

A lot of people love to have a really good camera.  Especially when we start a family and want to take a better quality of photograph, to capture their early days and their childhood.  So we make the plunge and shell out a few hundred pounds on a Digital SLR camera and we are ready to go.  But for many, when they purchase their first Digital SLR, all the buttons and switches are just too much.  That is until they find that magic setting, AUTO.  Now AUTO is a great function for starting out and especially with active kids who are always on the move and won’t sit still.  As you start to look through your images, in particular any with lots of white in them like snow, the colours just don’t seem to look right.  The snow looks grey, even on a bright sunny day and the colours just aren’t the same.  Whilst your camera is on AUTO, it tries to work out the ‘White Balance’ for the perfect picture, but it does not always get it right.

Now, to resolve this, what you need to do is to manually set the ‘White Balance’ before taking a picture.  This gives the camera a reference point and allows it to work out the colour of the light hitting the subject you are about to photograph.  To achieve this reference and to set the correct ‘White Balance’, in steps this particular product.  This 18% Grey Reference Reflector comes supplied in a convenient storage bag.  It neatly folds up into a small compact size for storing and transporting.  When removed from the bag it pops open to it’s full size of 30 x 30cm (12 x 12 inches).

To ‘White Balance’ your camera for a particular lighting situation, just place or have somebody hold the 18% Grey Reference.  Now, switch your camera to take a ‘White Balance’ picture (please see your individual instruction manuals) and take a picture of just the grey area.  It does not have to be in focus as long as you only capture the grey area.  Your camera should acknowledge that it has captured a ‘good’ reference, and you are ready to start shooting.

Once you see the difference this product makes and how it helps to bring a perfect colour balance to your pictures, then you will want to use it all the time.  If you have any problems using it with your camera then there are loads of videos available online to help.
This product was purchased at full price for the purpose of producing a higher quality image when taking photographs for product reviews and was not discounted.
