There is an ever increasing array of Car Dash Cams appearing on the market and gone have the days when you would have to spend way over one hundred pounds on a camera. With the wide array of cameras comes an even wider array of quality and specifications. Due to the detail you need to capture for a car dash cam such as car registration plates, more often then not whilst the car is moving, a good lens and a high definition recording is essential in my opinion. So 1920 x 1080 is what I would expect as a minimum recording quality.

So first up, this is exactly what the top level setting is on this particular car dash cam. Now the manual for this unit is very good, far better then a number I have previously seen. My normal approach is how intuitive the buttons and software menus are so as not to even require the user manual. I found it very easy to setup and within minutes had either checked or adjusted the settings to my requirements.

One of the features with car dash cams is how wide the field of view is that can be captured by the lens. With this particular camera, it’s 170 degrees. This is a great wide viewing area but with this comes a compromise. To get such a wide angle of view means that objects directly in front of you appear a little further away then they actually are. So with this particular dash cam, you get a great wide viewing angle but with objects a little further away then you would normally see from the drivers seat.

With the added audio feature to this dash cam, you can capture any registration plate or additional information simply by reading it out load. The camera captures very good quality audio, compared to other cameras and can even help you make notes of things to remember when you get home.

Now, I see many reviews for this product and many other car dash cams but for me, it’s all about the video these and this camera captures. This can only be demonstrated by editing some clips together and adding them to this review. The audio has been removed for music copyright purposes, and my poor singing.

So to conclude, this is a very good car dash cam and is very good value for money. If you want all the bells a whistles like GPS map tracking and car data logging then you are going to have to spend a lot more money. If you are just after capturing a good HD quality video on any motoring incident, then this camera will do the job.
